Over engineered wheels

Why do kids bikes - in this case a 20 inch wheel have so many spokes - 36, seems a lot, is it just to make it "super strong"?

Some BMX bikes use 48 spoke 20" wheels.

No, me too, although in my case, it was found playing cards. My friend found some playing cards with naked ladies on them. Good Times.

You'd be surprised at how crap the wheels really are, they need the spokes.
