Really wish saw more cyclists on the way to work, the testosterone/ego driven clashing of horns does seem to liven things up, win or lose.

On my long weekend run managed to lurk 10-20 yards behind a roadie for a several miles, was knackering myself, but the miles and the time flew by. He didn't notice me until I made a racket shifting gears, then immediately put on another 5mph and shot off. I could use loosing a couple of stone, will get that fixed and then i'll get one of these buggers!

How the hell did they go past you on the downhill if you have more cross-sectional density than they do?

They were in an echelon and taking slightly more risk than I was. Also, I noticed they could brake later than me - I have long arm calipers on my Van Nic (mudguard clearance) and they had more efficient short arm ones, plus they are all lighter than me, which helps to shorten braking times.

Or were you just scared ;)

Yes, I'm used to that.

Though rather unusually on my commute in this morning I actually overtook another cyclist -nearly scared the bejesus out of him as well -I did call out on your left, but I think I really startled the poor guy.

On reflection, I don't think he was another commuter -just didn't look like one - just a person trying to get some exercise.

Ooo, now then. Just after the descent from the top of the first climb that went above the tree-line. About 3miles from the Rhyader cake stop, at a guess.

Asked as I saw a guy this morning trying his hardest to keep in front of another fella with tri bars in the tuck position.

Looked as if he was about to keel over.

Aye, always best to draught a triathelete and not the other way around. In my experience they're very good at going fast on the flat. (they're not so hot uphill mind.)

I got overtaken by a lad on a Tourer/Audax type thing, he didnt blast past, but past he went, I started making my excuses to myself and then just thought, so what, he was faster, I have only been at it a few months and am still overweight, progress has been made but not quite enough to keep up with people with aero bars and serious thighs

I was doing 18 mph when he went past.
