I normally wear a helmet and a buff but this morning I couldn't find the buff.

As I rode into work my ears got cold and painfull as to be expected.
Then worryingly all the pain went and my ears actually started to feel warm.

Now i'm in my warm office and they're defrosting can I just say OWCH!!

Tut tut! I don't think I'd go out in this weather without a hat that covers my ears.

mislaid my (woolier old scooter) buuf at work and spent ten minutes stamping around the building trying to find it, no interest in leaving without it at all

I'm not actually riding when it is this icy, but it was pretty cold the last few rides that I did and I kept my head and ears warm with a Gore Windstopper skull cap that I found while out on a walk! Very effective and it came at a very affordable price! ;)

(I use my CC buff to keep my neck warm and I've grown a beard to keep my face warm.)

If any of you have need of a Buff type thing, Aldi have them on offer this week for £2.99 each. Not genuine Buff, but similar and might be worth a look at that price......

Don't call me Shirley! ;)

Yeah - my face - from the freezing cold!

Got a free buff from C+ last month to complement the two I already had; then secret santa at work bought me a pack of three buff-alikes and I got 2 more for xmas from imaginative relatives: so it's a fresh buff every day for me .

Sounds like you definitely need one spare - and Aldi could be the place to look. They've also got compression thermals which might be hands.
