Was perusing the local ads for potential n+1 oppos tonight and came across this. Had to share:

"Vintage Raleigh racing bike opportunity (£79)
    Raleigh Arena

    £79 or highest offer.

This bike is in very good conditions. I recently put new tires on and changed the handlebar tape.
Its very fast. It is the model that won the Tour de France 1978. Really tough to let go of it..."

Get it here - I suspect that he may still have it...

You've got to give him 10/10 for cahones - the claim seems to be based on the "Raleigh TdF winners 1980" sticker. I well remember the bike in question and even us gaspipe tweenies looked down on them. Cottered cranks, how 70s!

Not sure they cost £79 when they were new.
Can you imagine Bernard Hinhault riding one of those?

Bet he loved the suicide levers on the mountain descents. And a massive five gears, God that must have been confusing.

I think someone should ring him and ask if it has any race damage. Any volunteers?
