I was going to suggest the blind, but then I looked it up. They get a 50% discount which still makes the cost of their colour licence higher than a B & W one.

Must be hard sourcing the valves needed to keep the telly going.
It's easier to get valves now than it was 25yrs ago thanks to the resurgence of things like this.

A recently rereleased version of the QUAD 11 valve amp (available as the 15W original and 40W & 80W new variants for between £4000 -£6000 depending on which model for a new pair) Loads of other companies making valve amps too, just try googling them.
As for Black and White televisions my old portable is still going strong on a mates barge a 39' wide beam (9'6") Dutch and a couple of friends don't even own TV sets.

I'm not far off it. I watch so little tv that I've binned Sky and save myself 50 sheets a month.
