I keep a small fire extinguisher in my kitchen and work van.
I used the kitchen one in 08 to put the neighbour's cooker fire out..fire extinguishers are worth every penny ..

I have a dry powder on the top floor, a CO2 on the middle floor and readily accessible fire blanket in the kitchen and correctly fitted fire doors which get closed at night, the important one is between the living room and hall as tht keeps the escape route clear. Mains Smoke detection interlinked across the 3 levels and a heat in the kitchen tested weekly in rotation. Kids know the fire plan and when the gas water heater went on fire in 2007 my eldest who was 5 coming up to 6 did what she knew to do .

Cars have extinguishers too. Worth more than the minimal cost. Dry powder can be " fun" to clean up after use though

I am the one you see at events looking where the fire exits are so I know how to get out safely.
Nobody accidentally dies on my watch !

The smell of burnt flesh is one that stays in your nostrils for a long time. It is there now as I write this ( isn't the olfactory response great ) and remember
