One that always annoys me is football commentators saying "saved by the woodwork" when a shot hits the post or crossbar. No, what "saved" the defence was that the shot wasn't quite on target. Hitting the post isn't what stopped it going in.
The goal keeper/team is ’saved’, rather than the ball is saved.

I may be wrong, and it’s maybe not an oxymoron, but ‘Temperature controlled transport’ doesn’t work for me…. Surely the transport has controlled temperature?
