Unlucky, alec...glad you got it sorted.
Can't remember the last time i had a front flat, tbh.

it's only the fourth in over three years of daily commuting, so not bad for the milage i suppose. i might reinforce the inside of the tyre at the affected part with some gaffa tape…

That sounds like a good idea.

Only last week I was telling my mate at work that since I put on some Continental Gatorskins (2000 miles ago) I hadn't had a puncture.

Guess what, huge chunk of glass punctured my front tyre whilst going up a steep climb in pissing rain and a strong headwind 3 days later, deep joy.

Compounded by snapping one of my cheap, shitty tyre levers and receiving a nasty cut removing the glass, so got back to my car wet, dirty and muddy (I live 45 miles from work, drive 30ish, park in a layby and bike the remaining 13.5 each way).

Now got some good metal tyre levers and a nice pair of small offset snipe nosed pliers in my saddle bag, along with a small pack of plasters and some wet wipes.

Moral of the story? Never miss a good opportunity to shut the f**k up

Tried new tyre out today and it rode better than I thought it would although a half a mile test run really isn't enough. Also tyre size is wrong as I wanted 700x25 instead of 23.planning a longer run when I can be bothered.
