Just as I rolled up to the garden gate after this morning's ride, I hear the unmistakable sound of air escaping from my rear tyre. 'Phew' I thought 'that was lucky'.... but is it? Was it pre-ordained that I'd puncture sometime on my ride this morning? Yes, it could have happened out on the road... but it didn't... and it would have been completely unrelated had it have done.

I still think it was lucky though!

Just be thankful it happened when it did. One of the last ones I had was during an unofficial 'race' during a morning training ride in Manila a couple of weeks ago and I was feeling good for the sprint finish which was only about 5 Km away, not a happy Hector!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why? That's my point (in a very light hearted and casual way, I must add  ) It's still a puncture.

My instant reaction was one of relief. On reflection, I found that an illogical response (captain). Perhaps it is a human trait to want to see the good in everything
