Pain in the Pennines

Anyone riding this next Sunday. Looks an interesting route, just hope there isnt too much traffic on the main road bits.

Yes, I'm entered. From Oldham originally, with relatives in Saddleworth, so know a lot of the route.
Should be good, if it stays dry...

It's not the traffic that you should be worried about... !

I'll be doing it, but I've decided to be sensible and do the shorter route even though I'm signed up for the longer one. I have to do an extra 20 miles or so to get to and from the event and I'm not fit enough to enjoy carting my currently rather large carcass over 125 miles of pennine hills .

The long-range forecast is currently for mild and damp conditions which actually might turn out to be a blessing because it would be tough if it was as hot as it has been recently.

The weather was great, the hills were as lovely as ever, and my fitness was as bad as expected - ouch .

The road was closed by the local police at Booth Wood reservoir because a body was being fished out of the water !

PS Update on the road closure - body of 60-year-old man pulled from reservoir. Sad...
