Painting Old Wooden Windows

tried a test before attempting a larger section. this will be another ongoing remote project that will certainly span the new few months & into following years. approval for a pro is pending but doesn't seem promising. hence me hanging out the window. I should count all the windows. they aren't all so dried & petrified. pretty much they just all need scraping, priming & painting

this sill took
- scraping
- 2-part, epoxy filler
- primer
- final coat
(possible 2nd coat pending)

one tricky part of this is time. dry time. between the 3-4 application steps. on a warm summer day, with a small fan, the test was completed in under 90 minutes

Why not just replace the windows instead?
I am aware the cost will be more (how much are all those primers and paints going to add to anyway? Plus your time?) but the property would really benefit from modern windows imo.
Good luck with the job if you decide to go ahead!

I just rubbed down my windows and then painted them with a clear silicon based waterproofer thats good for 10 yrs. I might redo it a bit earlier but 8 yrs is way better than most paints.
