DAMN.
I messed up dates and thought Shrove Tuesday was last week. Only realised tonight - one my children felt a bit left out when everyone else at school was talking about pancakes this morning. I'm a bad parent!

There're still three left on a plate in the kitchen. I might scoff them later.

Made mine yesterday, French-style, but always have them a la Flamande i.e. with butter and brown sugar. :hungry: Took half a dozen to my lovely neighbour who was just sitting down to his tea. He put his ham sandwich back in the fridge. :giggle:

Do like pancakes with maple syrup though, but it's got to be with a good newmarket sausage rather than bacon. :hungry:

I've only just seen this thread so apologies for the belated response. we didn't have pancakes this Shrove Tuesday and we don't observe Lent but we do often have pancakes, especially when my partner's father comes over for Saturday lunch. We have them sweet - the others have lemon juice and sugar but I always have a fruit vinegar with sprinkled sugar. As a kid in Lincolnshire, I knew it as 'bramble vinegar' but others around the parts I live now call it by the name of the berry. At the moment, I have no bramble vinegar but have, as a substitute, a bottle of damson vinegar.

I enjoy pancakes with whisky. I find the whisky doesn't stick very well so I now eat the pancakes then drink the whisky straight out of the bottle. Only to save any mess of course
My grandma's (from Stickney) go-to remedy for colds and sore throats was raspberry vinegar. I think it was very much a Lincs thing, but we never had it on pancakes though.
I'm from Boston with family (especially a couple of generations ago) scattered all around the nearby villages (hence my user name) and I'm sure I must have some loose connection with Stickney.

When I was a kid we'd often have 'Yorkshire puds' (little ones made in a 12 hole 'cupcake tray' ) with Raspberry/Blackberry vinegar. :hungry: :becool:

I make my son pancakes every morning because he doesn't like cereal and is also gluten free. 1 egg, 50ml gluten free flower, 50ml milk. Sometimes use cassava flour or tapioca flour. Je likes nutella on them.
