Hi,

Planning on doing the coast to coast next month, decided a back pack would just annoy me so opting for a pannier. I have found a combo on a website I found on this forum, for £30 total:

http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Zefal-Zefal-Raider-Rear-Rack-20606.htm
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-SJSC-SJSC-Black-hook-on-Rear-Pannier-Bags-11550.htm

I checked the enlarged image for the rack and noticed its attached via screws to the bike frame between the seat post and the breaks. However my MTB doesn't seem to have any holes in that area. Is there a particular kind of rack I would need?

My bike is pretty much as cheap as they come, made by a firm called probike and looks just like this one:

Thanks

It shouldn't be an issue. What you need is some p-clips like these. They wrap round the seat stays (bit from the seat to the brakes) and you clip the rack onto those.

I use a similar one on my Univega MTB, they are well good, work with my panniers too.

I still swear by a 1970s Pleischer on my 72 Carlton Continental.
