The last time I went to Mallorca - with my newly acquired HPV Speedmachine (2-wheel recumbent) - my motivation for not stopping on the climbs was the German Paralympic team who were training with hand-cranked trikes. I thought if they could do the hills by hand cranking, I could do them with legs  But they were incredibly impressive athletes

I was having a drink at the top of Fleet Moss a few years back and watched in awe as a group of hand-cranking tricyclists worked their way up from the south side! They were going at least as fast as I could have done on my bike and I was pretty fit at the time.
