how could a car key cost possibly cost £175, its not normal is it.
Erm I rang Mercedes today to ask what information they needed so we could order a key for the SLK, if you think £175 is bad I'm not going to say how much Mercedes want.

Quite a few auto-locksmiths do programmed keys. They're fairly expensive but are still a fraction of what a main dealer would charge.

PS If anyone one in Birmingham needs one then contact Rock Autos on Alum Rock Road.

Mrs OFT has a Mercedes C Class as her company car. Last week we got a puncture. Of course there’s no spare wheel - just a small compressor and a canister of sealant. Pleased to report that the sealant did the the job and got us home, as the puncture was a really small hole.
Next morning at Kwikfit, we’re told that if sealant is used then the tyre is scrap. That’ll be 150 quid for a replacement then. If we hadn’t used the sealant the tyre would have been easily repairable.
Off to the Merc dealer to get a replacement sealant canister.
How much??????
50 quid!!!!
Fortunately the cost was covered by the lease company, but that’s not the point.
Next time we’ll call the AA, leave the sealant kit in the boot, and get the tyre plugged.

I got one out when I lost a key to my Astra. I thought it had been stolen during a break in so had the locks re_programmed and 2 new keys. Cant remember the price but it was a fraction of what the dealer wanted.

I have seen plenty of sealed tyres repaired, not by that unreliable bunch though. They talk rubbish.

No help if the key is lost but if you break eg the blade then Timpsons is the place to go.

Our VW key broke and they swapped the innards to a genuine VW one and used the broken blade to cut the new one. £40 as opposed to the £160 VW wanted.
