As quiet as Wales is where I live there is a war going on right outside my house. It's called parking wars ,and it's getting uglier by the day. The roads are as narrow as the houses and in this day and age everybody wants to park there 2/3 cars right outside there door step.
There's simply to many cars to do this and it's causing friction big time amongst the neighbours . My next door neighbour has now resorted to putting his Wheelie bins out on the road if he needs to go out ,while his other half will stand guard over them just in case somebody else moves them to park their car there. I've lost count of the amount of arguments that have erupted over the last few weeks over this. Just this morning a stray car was parked in there place( possibly a visiting relative staying over for the night) 7am it was gone and 2 minutes later the neighbours car was swiftly wedged in to his righteous place lol. I find watching all these childish antics hilarious to watch and I'm just waiting for the fireworks to really kick off when he comes across someone who's just as aggressive.
Just imagine though if bikes were more a common place in our society. This problem would be instantly solved. No more parking wars, or trying to wedge in your car into the tiniest of spaces. Clear free quiet roads with no pollution, and people looking a whole lot healthier and happier. Most of these car users could easily ditch there cars in favour for the humble bike and save themselves a some fortune each year in running costs.
When you think about it, a car uses a fuel ,that once is gone, its gone for ever and can never be replaced ,but the fuel a cyclist needs ,is food and that is a replaceable and sustainable commodity in our world.
Even with the event of cheap clean electric cars we will still have the problems of where to park them. I fact parking wars may become even more of a problem. Will our pathways be littered with cables strewn across them charging up our electric iron chariots of evil .
Haha the mind boggles lol :-)
