Hello , I have joined this group this morning and I'm not very good at technology Thankyou for the welcome ...but Ron and myself are renovating a Pashley Picador Tricycle . We are stuck at the moment as we are not sure which tyres and inner tubes it needs . The 20 inch wheels are good . We didn't keep a tube ore tyre as a guide !!! Can anyone tell me please , I don't want to go directly to Pashley as they are pricey . Would be happy with a small cycle inlet or EBay . thankyou Our kid x .

Hello and welcome to CC. There should plenty of choice out there, how about these off FleaBay: http://m.ebay.com/itm/371422256998?_mwBanner=1
Or these whitewall ones: http://nextday.bike/details.aspx/?GroupID=2464
I'm sure someone else will cone along with suggestions for a specialist supplier.

It depends which 20" wheel size you have, there are several different sizes all marked as 20"

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=20&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwijqaGm8_nUAhXBPFAKHQfgCSUQFgh3MBM&url=https://www.sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html&usg=AFQjCNGG5yul1C6JRwUcrOZKk4yO-kTuBg

Sheldon lists 5 different sizes none of which are cross compatible.

Maybe not a definitive answer, but someone else had the same problem, tried 20" by 1 3/8", found it too big, tried 20 by 1.75, found it too small, asked SJS cycles and had a potentially useful reply here. (Scroll down for Q&A).

Beware.... 20" is an old system and believe it or not covers a while series of sizes. This guide is a useful starting point

The better way is to look at the present rim / tyre and look for the ERTRO number. It will be in the format XX-YYY

In your case without the tyre, it will be stamped onto rim

The first number is the width of the tyre and can be altered within reason (a narrow racing tyre would be 25mm, a hybrid touring 37mm and a large mountain bike up to 50 mm

I would suggest that a 37 mm or similar would be fine for your needs, as it gives some softness to the ride

The second number (YYY) is the important one as this is the actual size of the wheel and so long as this matches the tyres will fit

20" tyres range from 406 to 451 mm in diameter, a massive 2 " in the diameter

Older wheels used the 451 and modern small wheels like folders and recumbents tend towards the 406

Some longstanding models changed as the 451 tyres became less available and more restricted in changing the wheels to 406 to give th wider availability and choice

Therefore depending on age your trike may have either

Thankyou so much for your trouble ... I have ordered the tyres 500A from SJS . I can return them if wrong , I've found inner tubes on Amazon . I just hope it all comes together , without finding this sight with all you cycle enthusiasts I wouldn't have had a clue . Thankyou ....Susan .

Try Kenda heavy duty, use them on four wheels with no problems.

Hi, I've just picked up a bargain Picador, but it does need tyres as the old ones are really perished. There doesn't seem to be a size on the tyre, but on the rim it says 20x406. 519*435E. It seems really difficult to find anything reasonable in 20x406. Can I fit anything else without spending £140 on tyres?
