Just tried to buy a hot pie for lunch... only to be told that they no longer keep their pies warm due to VAT.

now the last thing I want for my lunch is a cold fecking pie... and being told that 'all our pies are cold' at fecking lunch time sent me through the roof. How quickly does a pie shop expect to keep their customer base when their customers can no longer pop in to a fecking pie shop for a hot pie at lunch?

I'm sure one of those coalition numpties thinks this wonderful initiative will be of great benefit in the long term... what with the additional VAT they'll be collecting from all the hot pies my local pie shop is no longer selling.

Georgie boy... if people no longer buy hot pies, you won't collect any extra VAT you fecking d!ck splash!

Rant over! :cursing:

I think if they're on shelves (cooling down) they are not liable for VAT, but if kept hot, they are.
However, my favourite pie shop ignores the ruling and just sells cold and hot ones for the same price.

do they ignore the ruling or just pay the VAT themselves instead of adding it on to the price of each hot pie?

May favourite pie shop has just been boycotted by me due to their inflexibility

We should petition the Pieminister, to get the tax overturned. It was a halfbaked idea anyway, probably cooked up by some stupid pasty faced tart.

What ****ed me off recently is the imposition of 20% vat on sports supplements. Why?

Now costs me an extra £20 per months because gideon doesn't know what he's doing.

Why not? It is a discretionary spend on non essential leisure items. Why should part of your hobby be VAT free?

The pasty tax was scrapped.

This was confirmed in a local shop just yesterday. There is no VAT on pies and pasties (take-a-way) If the shop has facilities for you to eat the product on their property then they are required to add VAT to the price.
