Patrick Stevens AKA Cycling Naturalist

Evening All.

I thought that I'd let you all know, that Patrick Stevens (AKA Cycling Naturalist) passed away recently.

{In real life, Patrick was a solicitor and partner in a firm, with practices in Chirk and Oswestry. Patrick was working full-time until 7 or 8 years ago and acted as a consultant after that}.

Patrick was one of the first members of CycleChat and the only one (to my knowledge) who used his own name, though in the latter period of his days here, he changed his membership name to Cycling Naturalist.

For about a dozen years (c.2007-2019), Patrick was a prolific poster in this parish. He had a perceptive, sharp and analytical mind; his contributions and often witty exchanges were appreciated by many - even by those who didn't agree with him.

I'm sure that Patrick will be remembered (& missed) by many on this form, especially those who joined in the early days.

May not have always agreed with him, but a shame to find out he's now dead.
Hopefully any suffering was short and he can now rest in peace.

Always sad to hear about an old poster who has gone.
He did enjoy his run ins on the old political forum. But kept it respectful.

I recognise the name, but don't remember him as such (I did have a break of 6 years to be fair), so I can't really talk about him. That said, RIP.

I remember him. Not only did he use his own name, his avatar was a photo of himself (with Castell Dinas Bran in the background from memory).
He had some lively exchanges on the politics board, but was unfailingly polite and never once resorted to personal abuse. We could learn a lot from that approach. RIP.

There's a name from the past. He was one of the few of his political group who wasn't automatically tribal. Sad to hear.
