I thought 'nutritionist' was a new age term for anyone who likes to think they know a bit about food, in which case OTH is almost certainly one. What he might not be is a dietician?

This product that they are flogging says it is "reduced fat" and contains 3.5g fat with a 5% indication.
What it actually is is 20% fat. I would not touch them.
Walkers do 8% fat crisps - less than half WW,
Breadsticks are 6% fat.

You're not understanding what the numbers are telling you.

Why waste mine and other peoples money on a self inflicted condition when it could be spent on the more deserving or needy!
How did I know that would be your, for want of a better word, reasoning? I suppose depression sufferers should just pull themselves together as well? How about a cyclist who falls off and breaks bones, is that deserving or is it self inflicted?

Nope depression is not self inflicted state is it? To the other you are being ridiculous.
Obesity cost the NHS and TAX payer £5.1billion per year! Outrageous!

No, it's not, but it can sometimes be closely linked to other problems, including eating disorders.
I'm not sure why my example of a self inflicted injury is any more ridiculous than yours.
As to the financial cost of obesity you provide, I'd be interested to see your sources so I can understand what is included.

(For the record, I haven't been obese for a while, just overweight, and that's heading the right way too )

You cant just let obese people die on the streets...this is England ffs...IMHO the NHS should treat them, but the costs of that treatment should be treated as a loan to them repayable over a period of years ...or they should be given a lower tax threshold or something to recoup the costs.
Very few obese people I suspect are that way because of medical conditions they have no control over, those should be exempted from my suggestion, the rest should be made to pay for their treatment.

Walkers do 8% fat crisps - less than half WW,
Breadsticks are 6% fat. less than one third of the crisps from WW. It is not difficult. But keep on lapping it up if you want. Look no further than "2 points". Perhaps they are good calories that dont make you fat and breadsticks have bad calories in them?
Seem to me WW all about making you dependant on WW and their products.

Hi OTH, explain the above like I'm thick.

3.5 g /16 g = 21% The 5% indication relates to the % of an adults daily recommended allowance.
Walkers Ready Salted 8.5 g/25 g = 34% fat per pack
Walkers Ready Salted Lites 5.3g/24 g = 22% fat per pack

So, Walkers Lites are basically the same as WW, you just get a bit more per pack.

I don't bother with any WW snacks, I'd rather go without. I do like their yoghurts and a couple of the ready meals. Oh and the chocolate eclairs are fab. BUT I prefer to cook my own meals (and have been watching Hairy Bikers and trying recipes off the slimming world website ). Going to try the lasagne using leeks - have you tried this?

Now, if we want to talk about misleading labels ........

Pork (42%), water, pork fat (10%)

This is part of an ingredient dec for probably the most popular sausage around at the moment (not that I'd touch it with a barge pole bluurrghh). Note the 10% fat. The 10% fat is actually more like 40% fat. You only have to declare fat when it is in excess of 30%, you don't have to quantify the excess. These clever clogs have decided to quantify the excess fat, thus making out that the product only contains 10% fat (which is considered faily low for a mid meat content range sausage).

I did challenge the manufacturers on this but, funnily enough, got no response.

My total calorie intake yesterday was 1790 , i did a very easy going 5 mile ride (to bloody cold for more) which burnt off 312 so my net calorie intake was 1478. 25% protien, 25% Fat, 50% carbs. I drank a litre of water and about a litre of green tea. I ate fruit for the most part, chicken, salad, pasta olive oil, garlic, mixed seeds.
Those stats are from my 'my fitness app' which is free.
