Not strictly true, his Run Devil Run LP from the late 90s is a fine piece of work, a couple of excellent Macca tunes but mainly 50s rock and roll all recorded in a stripped down no frills style plus Mick Green and Geraint Watkins play on it and they're uber :becool:

Actually, while I think of it, 3BM, if you like that, the Russian album* is worth tracking down. It does include a rendition of 20 Flight Rock, which as any Beatle-phile knows, is the song that opened McCartney's door to Johnny and the Moondogs in 1957.

To be fair, you probably have to be over a certain age to fully appreciate what the Beatles meant to us back in the early/mid 60s.

I think you're right.

I did see him at Glastonbury in 2004 - having planned an evening in the dance tent, I only went because all of my mates were...and he was fantastic. All the greatest hits, and 100,000 people left singing Hey Jude.

i thought to Olympics Opening Ceremony was going to be a big pile of sh!te... I was pleasantly surprised, in fact i thoroughly enjoyed it... then Past-it McCartney turned up and it was a bigger pile of sh!te than i ever imagined!

although I do appreciate the Beatles legacy.

But Paul McCartney has been dead for nearly 50 years!!!

Actually, one more thing and I WILL shut up.
He did wave me ahead of him in his black Merc one morning a couple of weeks ago as I was about to turn into his road on my regular commute. Only sayin' like, 'cos Merc drivers are not normally known for their consideration for other road users.
