Never used them myself, but apparantly they should work, but a quick web search shows some people have problems. I would suggest a bit of research before parting with your cash :tongue:
 
Didn't one of the electric companies trial broadband via powerlines in a similar manner to that?
Suppose if its plugged into a socket and data is sent via powerlines to any other socket in the house via fuseboard then it may even be possible to connect to neighbours via it. I'm guessing problems may come from 'noisy' appliances such as washing machines.
