no worries, my tea's gone cold!sorry edited
run msconfig in safe mode and switch off all the startup stuff. Then start again and see if it's better. ...
I would then backup all data and restore to factory settings/reinstall windows. Worth doing this every year or so anyway.unfortunately it's no better with all the start up stuff turned off
but it does work in safemode with networking so at least i have something.

that's the way it's looking... quick question. I have my internal hard drive partitioned as C: and E:, with all program files on C: ...and pictures, videos and other random crap on the E: partition. Will I loose the E: partition by restoring the factory settings?I would then backup all data and restore to factory settings/reinstall windows. Worth doing this every year or so anyway.
AVG free anti virus, and Comodo firewall... i did get an AVG pop-up of some new threats it had blocked a couple of days ago... which seemed odd as, as far as i can tell, it blocks stuff without making a song and dance about it, and this time it did make a song and dance "Oh look what i've blocked!".... good thinking batman.hmmm
What virus software have you got on, virus stuff can be a right bugger, uninstall it and see. I had a corrupt update which did similar once.
It depends but most likely so I would back up everything. Often computers have a factory restore setting built in which can be run when windows loads so look that up based on the model of the computer as this negates the need to source the drivers needed.that's the way it's looking... quick question. Well, I don't think it's the best quite honestly. It's slowly coming off my PC's as it's inconsistent and doesn't seem to work, which is a bit of a bummer for virus software.AVG free anti virus, and Comodo firewall... i did get an AVG pop-up of some new threats it had blocked a couple of days ago... which seemed odd as, as far as i can tell, it blocks stuff without making a song and dance about it.
