One of the national cycle routes takes in the southwest end of the Pennines. I have seen quite a few people on tourers riding it. There are a lot of quiet roads in the area with fantastic scenery and challenging climbs , although there are also one or two very busy ones like the Cat and Fiddle. If you decide on the Cheshire and Derbyshire borders there are plenty of us who ride those hills and could give you some specific route advice.
It would probable be Cheshire and Derbyshire side as i am in Coventry. I am looking for some where to head to, going to wild camp out for a few nights in the area then head back,
