Apparently it's a hit in the USA. Wonder if they have subtitles?

Probably. But then there's bits of The Wire I've had to turn them on for so it works both ways.

As for Tommy's vaguely shonky accent, I reckon that's an affectation from his time in the war when he'd have been surrounded by different accents and slang.

If awards were being given out for shite accents I reckon Sam Neill would win. Just for managing to fit every vowel, twice, into "Crown".

The thing with Sam Neill is that he is originally from Northern Ireland. His accent should be considerably better. He does like to anunciate.

'Wale' is Black Country....not Birmingham.;)
Carrott should know better, I went to the same school as him.
He used to live about 1/2 a mile from me. The sketch he used to do about the cottage with the tyre marks on the roof and being on waving terms with airline pilots.
His accent is pretty good. He sounds like my gran, and she grew up in twenties Birmingham. Apparently they did a fair bit of research into how the East Birmingham accent would have sounded back then rather than trying to do a Tony Butler.
I would say that Arthur, the brother, does the best job with the accent.:okay:
I had to look the actor up and was suprised to see that he's from South London. He sounds just like one of my Dads old mates from Small Heath.
He could have fooled me, if I'd bumped into him in real life.
If Brum did the Manc thing of pretending that nearby places were theirs just to boost their egos, the Black Country is indeed Greater Birmingham.

Brummies don't need to do that though. We just are.
You forgot the word 'nobbers' from the end of that last sentence.

For what it's worth; Wolverhampton is a city in its own right.
Walsall is a town separate from Birmingham.
The Black Country does not include Birmingham.
