Well, peanut has finally huffed off. He wouldn't see this either because I'm another one of his "ignored" CCrs.

If he could read this tho, I'd advise a holiday. There really is a life outside the Internets. Sometimes just a life -- even a mundane one -- is a real gift.

Hope he comes back with some insight from Beyond.

I hope he comes back and I hope that life gets better for him re his dad (I don't know anything about what's going on there, and I don't wish to pry).

That being said, I do recall that he left a particularly vitriolic response to a post I made in light-hearted jest - I was gently having a tongue-in cheek dig at him and he responded as if I had just rammed a hand-grenade up his arse and pulled the pin out.

There's no point in throwing all of one's toys out of the pram because of things said on an Internet forum!

I think we have all had one of those peanut moments ;) I sent him a message to say sorry and he ignored my apology, so have given him a wide birth since. Never the less apart from that instance (sarcastic comment he took the wrong way, sound familiar?) he was always ok with me and hope he gets himself relaxed and out on the bike.

Talking from experience its incredibly difficult to keep calm on here sometimes when something has gone wrong in your private life and someone writes something on here that seems petty and trivial to you.

Please don't be rude about him as he is not here to defend himself, at the end of the day he is one of us!

+1

I'm not surprised that Peanut has left the forum; I suspect because of the cumulative effect of being on the receiving end of petty & insulting remarks.

Posters should consider that perhaps others may be upset and hurt, by what appear to be 'off the cuff' comments.

Personally, having read most of the threads Peanut kicked off on (and been involved in one or two of them), I don't think he was on the end of many petty and insulting remarks. He took a lot of perfectly innocent posts completely out of context and reacted to them inappropriately, but that's different from actually being insulted. I think that side of him got people's backs up to the point where they were perhaps a bit free with their words, but to say Peanut was picked on is not quite right.
All that said, he'd be welcome back, and I'd agree we shouldn't put the boot in now he's gone.

The above posts are fair and reasonable, but I held the opinion that peanut could not help but antagonise other posters. Despite gentle ribbing, advice, opinion or whatever from CC posters, he always fluffed up his feathers and seemed to entice 'confrontation'.
Then he might offer an explanation along the lines of "oh please don't misconstrue what I say / read my post carefully etc..." add in some smiley or the other and wait for the next rufflement.

And there comes a point...

I mean the two above RT (and RT's of course!)

As peanut is no longer here I would prefer it if comments were limited to well-wishing.

Thanks,
Shaun

I think it's very mean of people not to agree with other people and I always try to agree with other people and positively go out of my way not to disagree with other people because I think the world would be a much nicer place if everyone was nice to each other and always agreed with everyone else and that's why I always agree with everyone. Apart from Peanut of course. Oops, sorry Shaun.

I liked peanut (there, I've gone and said it now!).

He had his own style, as do we all, but I think that there are far worse, provocative and spiteful forumers here than he supposedly was!

And I'll miss his cat falling off the fence!
