Not surprised he's gone. There are some sad people on this board. The majority are great but a small minority who are on all the time ruin it sometimes. If someone says black. They say white just for the sake of it.

Quite a few have chips on thier shoulders about various things. Doesn't matter what you do for a living. If you've got 2 bob or 10 million it shouldn't matter as everyone on here has a common interest.

Rant over. I'm away out for dinner

Come back peanut!!!

From what I saw, Peanut made his own bed. It was no-one else's fault. This place is pretty welcoming on the whole, but at the same time, people tend not to put up with unnecessary abuse. This is a good thing. If Peanut could control his tendency to lose it every time anyone has the tiniest point of disagreement with him, I am sure he would be happier.

There are others who have a tendency to get a bit annoyed when others challenge their views.

Yes Greedo I do mean you.

But I hope you enjoyed your night out with your friends.

I do, but I'm quite capable of defending myself.

I'm sorry to see peanut going, and hope he'll be back.

hope to see you on next week's ride peanut!

Hmmm... a few thoughts.

I noticed last night (when I was in a slightly befuddled state courtesy of the NHS's brief hospitality) that the [thread=48146]thread referred to[/thread], which appears to have been the final catalyst, had been heavily edited by Peanut, reducing all his posts to single punctuation marks. Understandable, but turned the entire thread into gobbledegook for those not in the know.

Now I see Shaun has edited it back and it makes sense once again. Also understandable, but is this by arrangement with Peanut, Shaun? Otherwise it seems a bit unfair. He no doubt had reasons.

I've wondered long about the wisdom of 'farewell posts', particularly if hostile or aggressive. Especially seeing as I made one myself once, in Another Place, albeit a very neutral one merely saying I was going and giving no reason. I don't know how much - er - comment it attracted seeing as I never went back to look - and I don't ever intend to. That's all over now.

I think the reason could best be described as flounce.... As you say, it made the whole thread incomprehensible.

it seems Peanut, for whatever reason, has been having trouble recently accepting that anyone else might think differently to him, and throwing a strop when they do. If that's so, then maybe a forum of such diverse people isn't the place for him for a bit.

Don't we all have a bit of this in us?

I have learnt - the hard way maybe - that there are two very distinct species of humanoid on this planet: Homo sapiens and Homo forumensis. The two don't interbreed and have very different behaviour patterns. Curiously, nearly every individual of H. forumensis has a doppelganger in the H. sapiens group, though the two are very different in actual temperament. No doubt David Attenborough will be along shortly, crouching and speaking in whispers, to explain it all...

Hmm, possibly. Although I have to say, the vast majority of people from here I've met have been very much like their forum personalities.... But then I've tended only to meet the nicest people.

Yeah, we can all take offence, and everyone really wants to be right all the time, but most of us manage to either ignore contradiction, or address it constructively, most of the time.

In another (non-cycling) forum that I go to, it is considered a hanging, drawing and quartering offence: indeed someone was banned for - allegedly - doing just that. The following from one of the Admins in explanation of his departure:
***** decided to sabotage [the forum] by deleting parts of his posts.
This is against our Code of Conduct and is one of the most harmful actions against a forum of this type so ***** has been banned.
:ohmy::ohmy: (yes I thought so too, at the time!)

Actually that wasn't the real reason the person was banned. Just the one given by the Admins.

Glad we're not so totalitarian over here...

Every time :smile::laugh::biggrin:

I'm only at the wind up. I'm sitting here waiting on Mrs G getting ready. To be honest I take people challenging my views well. you can't grow up in a house with 5 siblings and sit down every night for dinner and not take on board feedback and other points of view. You wouldn't get away with it if you didn't

Ha! A little sample of H. forumensis here, which I shall try, as per Arch's excellent advice, to
