Hi

My Scott Sub Cross10 is now two years old and still uses the standard cheap pedals... bike has done 1200 miles since new and these are standing up well to my use...

I think it is time to get something better...

I have been looking at these https://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-gr500-flat-mtb-pedals-large/ purely to keep in with all the Shimano running gear fitted.

What do you think of these? and what recommendations would you have?

Only had a couple of weeks experience of MTB pedals when on holiday and these were DMR's with studs. I found that they gave good grip, but the studs didn't always find comfortable positions on the soles of my trainers. The Shimano ones above, seem to have adjustable pin lengths, so must be addressing the issue I had, so are probably worth a go.

That is, unless you go clipless !!!

Thanks for the reply, I have enough trouble staying upright now without fixing myself to the pedals lol ...

Superstar Nanos are superb flats and at the mo there's a 30% off lockdown discount code NANO2020 (best hurry though)

https://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/nano-x-evo-pedals.htm

Far better than DMR V8's which I'm sure will get mentioned repeatedly. I've had both (plus others) and the Nano are the ones i'm still using

Thank you, I will take a look  with the discount £38.49 seems a damn good price.. I have seen the DMR name mentioned in a few places..

Hate to say it in the face of recommendations for what are doubtless great pedals, but if your existing pedals are as you say below then why replace?

Good question, The main reason is although they are holding up well in damp conditions my feet seem to slip very easy on them so I was looking at some with the "spikes" to aid grip.
