Pedals for a hybrid

I'm used to the flat (metal) pedals that I put on my MTB. They have superb grip and I'm used to my feet almost sticking to them when I ride.
The Dawes hybrid has the standard plastic pedals on it and my feet have slipped more than once.
I want to replace them but what with?
I'm not sure MTB pedals would look right on the hybrid - are there any alternatives that give good grip but don't look like they should be used in a muddy forest somewhere?

I'm more one for function over aesthetics so wouldn't be too fussed with MTB pedals on a hybrid (but not BMX ones ;) ) I quite like chromed vintage touring pedals tho, good and grippy, dirt cheap from jumbles and don't tend to have a particular look

Whats looking 'right' got to do with it. The only time you or other people see the pedals is when your not riding it, if your happy with the pedals on your MTB just get the same for your hybrid.
True, I just thought it may look daft or be a 'no-no'

If that's the style you prefer them use them. I have BMX/MTB style pedals and like the look of them on my bikes (especially as there was a choice of colours:thumbsup:).

I use flatties on all the bikes, either DMR V8,s or these which I slightly prefer. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wellgo-MG...itchen_Ovens_Hobs_Cookers&hash=item231752d68d
Listed in the 'Ovens' category, oddly!

Another Wellgo fan here, these are on all my bikes; very grippy and cost £26.49 from ChainReaction.
