Gaffa tape shoes on, much better.
Or just put SPDs on it, and get some SPD shoes you can also walk in?
Much better.
If you dont want to change shoes before riding, you can still ride with spd pedals

I haven't yet. I was looking at PowerGrips - but you need to use really short screws to not mess up the folding apparently. I did a google and found someone had done it and posted some pictures to prove it. I suspect more holes might have been needed than the pedal has, so perhaps some drilling was needed as well. See here.

Failing that, it seems you get SPDs with a pull off pedal to replace the folding one.

I'm not too eager to go down that path though, as it will completely invalidate all my existing footwear....

And how does is invalidate your existing footwear?xx(
You can pedal with SPDs and normal shoes you know. I do it on my fixed when i play bike polo(the shitty fixed that is)

The reason I want something on my pedals is mainly better grip. Currently in the wet my feet tend to slip off the pedals, especially when wearing my waterproof trainers. So, if my current metal pedals are bad for grip, how much worse would a smaller SPD pedal be?

I'm struggling with the same thing. I'm wondering how good 'sticky' trainers might be, like the ones from 661 or Five-Ten, that are used for downhilling?

i also have this problem and don't really want to go spd route as i want to use normal shoes / trainers when at uni. i thought perhaps i could carry normal shoes with me, but i would prefer to cycle in waterproof trainers too. i think it's the vibram soles that slip the most for me.

The thinking behind my original post is that I actually find it difficult riding without clips. I find I lose agility and nippiness in traffic.I don't want to go the clipless route as I want to wear normal clothes while riding the brompton. I could do with just one clip on the right pedal, actually, as that maintains the connection...has anyone tried that?

That would be easier I guess as it doesn't fold. The Powergrips are intended to do just this, but reviews of them are pretty varied. Get along to the Brompton Talk Yahoo Group as this was discussed a couple of weeks ago.

Can you fit any kind of pedal to them? MKS do several quick release pedals that will take toeclips, I've got two different pairs on my folders.
