Why are you cleaning and drying your bike? It is a total waste of time. It will only get wet and dirty again. Just keep an eye on your chain - it needs a bit more TLC if things get wet. Apart from that, 'singin' in the rain....just singin' in the rain...'

I am in the car today, fancied a drive in so here I am, will be itching to get back on the bike tomorrow so if you feel slightly jaded, tired or fancy a change, go with it, I never said I would do every day and seeing as there is no medal for commuting in shite weather there isnt one for forcing yourself when you dont want to.

I cleaned mine at the weekend, pressure washed, buffed and lubed, tyres pumped, saddle adjusted (into a really uncomfrtable position, what is comfy round the block doesnt seem so comfy after 14 miles and vice versa), ok its filthy again but it is enjoyable, put myself in the garage, old pc in there doing MP3 duties, few tins and I am happy as a pig in shoot !

Getting wet isnt a big deal, putting wet stuff on is unpleasant but it soon warms back up.

speccy1 ... I'm going to let you in on a little secret ...

It's winter, which means that it gets cold and rains a lot!

Shhh! Don't tell anyone!

It was the wettest November on record though. Some sympathy surely :ohmy:

Lol! Fairy snuff. TBH I don't commute in the pissing rain because its such a kerfuffle, I do, however, derive immense masochistic pleasure from off-roading in the rain and coming home looking like the Bogwoppit!

Cheers to those with the sensible replies to my post:smile:

I have no intention of giving up or selling my stuff it`s just figure of speech, all my post says is that I am hacked of with drying all my gear every 5 minutes. I have no problem with cycling in the rain, wind or cold, I didn`t say that I did.

No doubt the sarcastic posts will start again now thick and fast...go for it:laugh:

That can be a pain, I dont have problems at work as we are lucky enough to have a cracking drying room. But Mrs AF doesnt like my smalls hanging about at home.

It's been so wet recently it's even starting to get to me. I get rained on while commuting and at the weekend, there's stuff hanging up drying in the flat and the humidity rarely drops below 75% indoors. Opening the windows isn't any help.

Where do you commute to and from in Plymouth?

I used to do Plympton to Plymouth, Plympton to nr Bickleigh and Plympton to Totnes.

Worst is getting soaked on the way to work and putting all the wet stuff in my locker for a soggy ride home.

Ditto - sat on a train with soggy socks this morning after cycling to the station and then after showering at work realised that the sock wash had got a bit muddled and I had one of my socks and one of my 6 year olds footie socks - spent the day in meetings with Directors with a very naff brogues and no right sock look:blush:. Was quite a relief to put the soggy cycling socks back on for the journey home:biggrin:. Perversely, once I got my new bike wet and mucky for the first time, I'm quite enjoying cycling in the rain -seems to somehow stupidly increase the sense of achievement. Probably just my new bike keenness:wacko:

Dehumidifier, innit? In fact my cycling shoes dry faster when tucked between the wall and the back of my dehumidifier than they do when sat on top of a radiator.
