We've got the drawings back and the various enginnering companies around Leicester can now start making the parts for our first batch of ten brand new Pennies. One of which will be a monster 58"

Forgive my ignorance but is 58" the wheel diameter ? What sort of inside leg measurement would you need to be able to keep your foot on the pedal at the bottom of the downstroke ?

Yep 58 is the wheel diameter and you'd probably need a 35" or 36" inside leg.

Jeeze! Was there anybody that tall in Victorian times?

Very few. Fred Wood, the multi world champion, was 6'1" and raced a 57" but 56" was generally the largest. There were a few 60" made but they probably raced them on short cranks.
