Riding as a single or in small groups, other cyclists in the surrey hills almost unfailingly give a nod/wave/finger flick/word of acknowledgement. It happens less on a busy weekend for the sole reason that there are so many cyclists around it would develop into a semaphoric frenzy of mutual acknowledgement.
I ride often in the club kit of a long standing, and one time large, surrey club. Very frequently some stranger will ride along side and ask about one or other of the old timers in the club or just about the old times and the events the club used to run.
