Child Three wanted to go to a friend's house today, so I rode there with him.

19 miles with boy, then 19 miles home alone. I'll drive to pick him up later, as he cooked himself pretty well on the ride out and I did on the way back.

The weather was PERFECT. Sun, a gentle breeze; perfect. Maybe better than perfect.

Most road users were polite and thoughtful; there were gazillions of cyclists out. (2 were in the colours of a club my middle child just joined). Everyone waved.

Fluffy asparagas in the fields, apples getting ripe. Good tarmac. The scent of climbing plants as I went past front gardens.

That ride just about made up for all the rain, spray, wind and grit we've had for the main part of the summer.

Did anyone else find today's ride sublime?

Smiling too much to type any more.

Was stuck in the office all day, catching sight of the sun out the window and wishing I was out on mine. Got home too late to go out, evenings are drawing in. Must get some decent lights!
