The Fahrradmanufaktur has landed and at the moment all I have done is lift the saddle, rotate the bars after taking pictures) and lessen the angle of the stem .

Nowhere near as heavy as I expected and this could be a fun one to get used to.

Here's the brief spec of this great touring machine , 51 cm Fahrrad Manufaktur T400. Reliable commuter / tourer. Bought 2011. Little used in last 5 years but well maintained. 26” wheels (559 tyres). 160 mm cranks with 110 mm BCD chainwheel. Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub gear, current range 25” to 76”. V-brakes front and rear. Front hub dynamo to front and rear lights. Rear Hamax rack.

I will be possibly swapping bars for a set of butterfly or even a set of H bars

We get Fahrrad Manufaktur bikes on occasion at work: they're very nice bikes.

I'd shorten that front brake cable though.

Nice esp if butted does it ring when flicked?

I fancy a late 4130 Raleigh pioneer

Well I got more of a dull thud than a ring oh and a broken nail 💅

I thought you might have seen a few, once I have sorted bars out then I will look at cables

A selle SMP saddle and some clip in pedals have been fitted.

First 10 miles on the Fahrrad have been completed.

Thoughts are it's nice to ride, the 8 speed nexus gearing should get me up any hills hopefully but not overly keen on the twist grip changer so need to see if you can get a trigger or an sti unit that will do same job. Might need to swap the rear cog for a smaller one to raise the cruising speed.

The dynamo lighting is working and seems quite good but need darkness to see how good .

Made some adjustments en route this morning is brake lever position and adjustment, dropping the stem a bit more and a tweek of saddle angle.

I keep thinking how bad are the cheapest road bikes from brands like Challenge , Ammaco , Barracuda, Cross and I suppose Apollo?

I appreciate that the basic components will be of a lesser quality than a mid range manufactured bike IE Giant and Trek .

First ride on the open road completed on the Fahrrad only 12 miles but enough to be impressed by the dynamo powered front light didn't need the other one I strapped on the bars before leaving just had a flashing marker lamp .

Need to check what model and make it is later.

Jury is out on the bars so might try a set of flats first after one more slightly longer ride over the weekend.

Longest ride to date this morning with 33 miles on the Fahrrad went well, but not keen on the swept back bars as I found myself leaning towards them when things went uphill.

So have just swapped the bars for a set of butterfly ones and initial ride feels good so will see. Once I have done a few rides I will tidy up the cable excess .

Super impressed by the dynamo powered front light on unlit roads out in the countryside a nice spread of light and ok by itself.
