Inaugural 1.4 mile test ride just completed and a few more things added to the to do list like lift the saddle and either wider flat bars or a set of drops are required.

But overall nice and smooth.

When i was out yesterday on the Galaxy i couldn't get over how well the brakes operated old fashioned centre pulls with grey koolstops operated by MTB/Hybride canti levers , i am almost tempted to keep the set up just swapping it over to a set of drops

When I first picked up this Galaxy I was expecting to have to do a complete recommissioning as I have just done on the Claud Butler Sierra.

But having covered just under 10 miles on it now I think I will get away with some fresh grease in the hubs , replace broken / missing spoke on rear wheel , try and find the chromed lower section front forks which is hidden under a layer of black paint and swap the bars out for a set of drops once I find some levers.

It rides nice and smoothly and looks a lot better with this set of guards on .

I have had an annoying knocking noise on occasions from the front wheel on the Claud Butler Sierra since doing the rebuild so I stripped and checked the hub this afternoon and all looked ok so put it back together with fresh grease and will see what it's like tomorrow morning.

Whilst I was in the garage I pulled the rear wheel out of the galaxy and replaced a broken spoke once I find one of the right length.

Also found a set of drops and levers that will be fitted soon.

Well my morning rides was noise free so hopefully I might have cured it but not saying that till a few more miles have been completed.

Had a bit of time this afternoon and I had a go at removing the thin black paint that was hiding the part chromed front forks on the galaxy and sure enough there's chrome underneath and the side I have done looks good as well.

Also had a go at adjusting the rear drop out screws and they were a bit stiff to start with but soon came free.
