So she who must be obayed has said I can upgrade from by boardman CX team to something else

I have £800 to spend

I think I have narrowed it down to some older (2013) cube bikes

Here's the list

Cube peloton race compact (shimano 105)

Cube Agree GTC (tiagra but carbon frame)

Or anything else?

I'm looking for a bit more speed than my CX team but were not racing. We only tend to go out for long 50 mile + rides etc

IMHO you won't go far wrong with either bike & the difference between the 2 as far as speed is concerned won't be great. The carbon frame will be a little more comfortable on longer rides. I had a Peleton Pro last year & upgraded to the GTC Agree Race a few months ago (both 2013 models). My average speed has increased marginally but that is probably just because I'm riding more as each month goes by, rather than anything to do with the bikes.

Could you test ride both? see which one feels right?

Composite - carbon

Giant don't give weights, but it'll be within a few hundred grams of the cubes. Weight pretty irrelevant as will be similar in a given price point

ok, looks good, is it carbon or aluminium lol i can't figure it out. What weight is it.. can't find that out either

Don't get tooo hung up on the weight but some bloke on here just bought this year's Defy Composite 2... weighed in at 8.1kgs... I imagine the 3 is very similar as the spec is pretty much the same.

Giant might be an acquired taste, visualswise, but that particular model sat in my local Giant Store for about a year and a half and it's very pleasing in the flesh, not quite so straight a blue as in the pics, a bit more navy, and a sparkling metallic hue.

Oh it's carbon by the way, even to the seatpost!
