18 mph average tonight on the way home, beating my previous 17.5 last year on the hybrid, ok, will admit to a favourable wind, if not exactly a strong tailwind.
I think its a combination of it being light, me having lost a few pounds and doing every day on the bike, plus now having a road bike. I wonder if loosing the other 20 or so pounds I want to lose will make enough of a difference to get to a 20 mph average, am keen to improve further and lose weight as a doing a version of the Coast to Coast with some "proper" cyclists from work (as opposed to me, a podgy communting chancer), they have extended the route a bit and I think they set quite a high standard, hence the motivation B)
Yes, I was still careful and didnt take any big risks.
