From early October round my way.
Can't say I'm inordinately bothered by them though.
At least they drown out the screaming, and the voices in my head.

Well aren't we all a bunch of miserable old gits today! I am reminded of these two:

What a load of codswallop. I would rather see cheesegraters banned - I've had fair more accidents with them than I have, or even heard of anyone I know having had with fireworks.

But that aside, what the heck is a "dirty firework"?

Read a couple of stories yesterday about how a cat had to be put down after being found with serious burns on it's back, which they reckon was caused by someone tying a firework to it's back. And a pensioner suffered an eye injury after someone threw a firework into a bus stop from a passing car.

Don't agree with the nanny state stuff, but when you read stuff like this, having a nanny state seems slightly less undesirable.

If someone wants to harm a cat, they will harm a cat. You can ban fireworks, they'll use something else.

I am terrified of fireworks, I hate them.

But banning them? Which killjoy sits down and writes a petition about it?

Whoever it is needs a good kick up the arse.

We're so different from countries.like Spain, Italy etc, where it's not unusual for people to let rockets off by hand... in the street...

Thats what happened round our way last night ! I hadn't seen that before and I was amazed at how dense some people are.

They turned out to be guys my daughter knows - she says they are decent people ..just being stupid and drunk.

If anything its probably drink that needs to be banned but I would not vote for that

I enjoy fireworks, my dogs don't. I couldn't afford to buy fireworks big enough or in quantity to enjoy, so personally I am in favour of restricting the sale of fireworks to licensed events. afaik it is still ileagal to discharge a firework in a public place or outside of certain dates/ times. Obviously this isn't enforced, but they are certainly a bigger nuisance now that every celebration/ holiday seems to attract them. 20 years ago they could only be bought for a couple of weeks around 5th Nov.

You can no longer buy the components of gunpowder without a license, yet fireworks can be bought by any muppett, seems strange to me.

I would also say there is a trend toward more and larger 'rocket' type fireworks, I wonder how happy the 'don't ban them brigade' would be if the 1lb pointed carcass of one let off from a neighbours garden landed on their head/ car roof/ through their greenhouse roof?

When I was a kid we used to do the good ol' firework-in-a-dog-poo-on-doorstep trick ...

I'm glad the kids near me are nothing like I was when I was a kid!

Didn't intend to cause such a stir...

If you want to sign it, then please feel free. If not, then please don't

Best response I've seen since being here  Duly signed, but then not a difficult decision with my dog trembling and the horses in the field next to us going crazy with fear with f****ing a*...s letting fireworks off on a Sunday night.

If they must ... then organized ONLY.
