Ive signed it but road rage only very marginally effects cyclists. You're overwhelming more likely to be a target of road rage if you're another motorist. Why not focus on why motorists develop such rage in the first place? It seems a little bit like cutting the leaves off the weeds rather than killing the root...

Anyway, here's hoping some good can come from it...

As a driver and a cyclist I feel more vulnerable to road rage as a cyclist because they can and do use Thier vehicle to intimidate and threaten you which isn't as easy when you are in a car.

A lot of the road rage and stress I have seen is caused by people organising their lives around too much and allowing very little wiggle room
I have worked with loads of people who had to be in work about 15 minutes after the kids had to be in Nursery/school - and the journey took 15 minutes - that just guarantees the day starts with stress!

They could just drop the kids off 15 minutes early. :okay:

As I said it's lifestyles. Parents with young kids both working, people working unpredictable/irregular hours, people living miles away from where they work - so any sort of incident or delay to their day starts a chain reaction of events. The more pear-shaped the day goes the more aggressive they become and drive more recklessly.

Drivers who cycle are half as likely to claim on their motor insurance, and motorists are two to three times more likely to be the party at fault in an accident with a cyclist. A more effective but less popular alternative would be to make a minimum amount of cycling experience a prerequisite for obtaining a driving licence.

The government responded, the committee wanted it revisited. The revised answer is, as far as I can see, not revised in any way at all.
So much for the worth of the whole govt petitions system...
Yep. I've just done a comparison in Notepad++. The revised response is exactly the same as the original response.
It is possible that someone just put up the wrong response...
