Touch it up and ride it

It is in mint condition really, old chap who used to sell bikes as a side line to walking and camping gear had it, still got the little rubber stalks on the tyres, You wouldn’t get the frame for £700 normally. Price isn’t a concern, more thinking what are they like to ride?
In that case it sounds a good buy enjoy

I have a 531ST framed one, it rides beautifully, yours should ride as well if not better and be a smidge lighter. sounds like its effectively new old stock, pretty rare!!

Hmm, smelt a rat, ( 653 sticker looked a bit off and under the top tube like a British bike, not between the gear levers like most French bikes) looked a bit closer, frame number nothing like a Peugeots, careful out there folks.

Good morning,

Assuming that your discovery meant that you didn't buy it, @DCLane posted this link very recently.

A lovely 753-framed Woodrup in Leeds, £250 start price but with a reserve: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Woodrup-Road-Bike/133667611155

Immaculate 1980’s Woodrup Road Bike. Late father-in-laws “special occasion” bike and barely used. Stored in spare bedroom and has never seen a wet road

It had a £1,000 reserve and only 1 £250 bid, whether it is still available and what the acceptable price would be I have no idea.

Again it is 7 speed and the "conventional wisdom" is that bending 753 is a bad idea......

Bye

Ian

Did you buy it and find this out at home?
Hope you didn't have to go far ?
Luckily no, and it wasn’t the seller‘s fault. He had bought it off a dealer or wholesaler back then, and not being a bike specialist had been taken in himself. We guessed that the frame was a gas-pipe type, and Peugeot had been chosen because of the non-standard smaller seat posts, bit of doctoring on the cheaper (Xenon?) Campagnolo parts and kerching!
