I am an ex pharmacist. Codeine and trampoline are both opiate drugs and work in the same way. Taking both together is not likely to be harmful in a major way, but likely to cause more side effects than one drug on its own - probably drowsiness etc and constipation.
Tramadol is possibly a bit more effective than codeine, but may also be more likely to produce side effects.
So - best to take one of them only , possibly changing to the other if not being effective.
Hopefully the discharge will only suggest one of the two drugs and only one will be supplied when he leaves hospital.

Does Tramadol make you especially bouncy?

The OP says the patient has already been discharged with both drugs
