I have recently been offered £5 for 30 days free internet usage, or £2.50 for 5 days for my phone. Tomorrow I head off to France for a few days to watch le tour, so I am viewing this as a viable option for keeping up to date with where the riders are in the stage before they come zooming past us.

My question is, will additional charges apply for using my internet abroad?

(Phone is a HTC wildfire S)

Many thanks

O2 wouldn't do this last year when I was in France, £5 for thirty days is good. Your phone will probably auto switch of data when you are roaming. You can still use GPS apps like Endomondo and Strava without data but it is a bit of a pain uploading when you are in a wifi hotspot. For a fiver I would take the data bolt.

Check that the free data usage applies in France, or you're in for a nasty shock!!

Agreed. Whilst in the US, I got charged 85p for using only 119 kB of data! I now remember to turn my data usage off before I leave the UK, not when I land in the foreign country.
