When I get those marketing calls, depending on my mood, I'll either:

(a) Say nothing and hang up.

or

( Sing to them in German and hang up (they usually hang up first).

Reminds me of a chugger I was approached by once. Approached - I said 'No thanks' his response was "Why don't you want to help abused children?" which sort of made me wish to dish out some abuse in his direction, the sort involving skull/D-lock interaction. But I refrained. I just gave him The Look and told him there was no way I'd be giving my bank details to a stranger in any event and especially not to one who also happened to be an obnoxious t**t, and that which charities I choose to give money to are my own business.

Just had a call on my mobile (don't know how they got the number, I thought it was on the list) asking whether I would take part in a survey.

I said no.

The bloke then said that as an incentive they would be donating x thousand pounds to some charity or other.

He seemed quite put out when I said that if he wanted to give to charity then he should just do it, and not make it conditional on the actions of others.

How low can you go?

I'm surprised that he didn't say that a child would go blind in the Third World if you didn't co-operate.

just answer yes to any and every question (unless they actually have your details and ask you to confirm them)

I ask them what they are wearing. They hang up pretty quickly.
