Don't know if anyone here knows how this works. If I go to somewhere like the marmotte the photos online are searchable via entrant number. The number is generally fixed on the front of the bike. Is this searchable via some sort of software which does number recognition? I'm thinking of organising a charity event here and was wanting to maximize some of the takings by offering some photographs. I could just store all photos online and let people search themselves..any ideas..anyone done this before?

Haven't done it myself but was recently in an event where cyclists had to put the numbers on their backs and marathon runners on their fronts. To search the pics of cyclists, you could either just browse them all or by main colour of top (red, black, mulitcoloured etc). I assume that the photographer had put the photos into this order himself and it worked pretty well.

with Equine events when we put them in horse number you should the riders back first, then the set, then the floor as this makes it fairly quick to label them. Don't know of any automagic software for this but it would be dam handy for a cycling event
