There's the famous walrus in the Horniman Museum. It was stuffed by a person who'd never seen a real living walrus, and didn't know that the folds of skin around the face should be, well, folds. So he just kept stuffing until it was smooth, giving it the appearance of a betusked sausage.

Oh god, I made it about three images in and then had to stop looking because the amount of effort I was having to make not to laugh out loud was making me look like a cat trying to rid itself of a furball.
