  1. Keith,

On a recent cycling tour one of the other riders said he'd just got back from Vietnam. He says there vehicles on the main road have to give way to vehicles coming on from the side road. Is this true?

In practice that is true although I'm led to believe that the rules do not say this. In reality it's usually "I'm bigger than you , so give way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems a crazy system and it took him a while to get use to it. He said similar to you there's no arguing with something thats bigger than you!!!!

My ex-work colleague went to India year before last...he said it's really that bad...everywhere.....he wouldn't even consider driving there! ;)

I've seen the Indian one before and it's not for the faint of heart.

Another one here that's hard to accept is the when you're going down the road (right hand side here) and a car or bike wants to cross your lane for their left turn, they will signal and pull across in front of you by up to 100 or 200 metres before their actual turn off and then come up the road on your side forcing you to move out towards the centre of the road. Crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
