In case it's not obvious btw, this was a legally rentable scooter not an illegal one. It says the council suspended their use afterwards with other councils following suit.

They could argue cars already cause harm, so why add to it?

Or they don't enable micro mobility, but instead perpetuate laziness with the added danger over walking or cycling, so why add to it?

I'd say being three times over the drink drive limit, and carrying a passenger may have played as big a part.

I question the value of stand up e-scooters, especially the 80kph variety which are showing up now. They just look like top heavy way for a lazy type to get themselves involved in an accident.

I’ve got an e-cargo bike and spend some time on an e-bike forum as well. I’m depressed by the number of threads on that forum which are about deregulating and hopping up e-bikes and scooters. Such behaviour is only going to result in strict regulations and bans on e-bikes which is a shame as these do have a use.

That's a pretty horrible statement, utterly lacking in contrition.

I hope in reality shes a bit more contrite and less self pitying than these statements makes out.

I have as much sympathy for her as I have for any drink driver.
