Place to eat, and possibly drink, in Leith.

In a bit over a week I am going home, well the opposite coast but still Scotland

Don't know much about Edinburgh, and particularly Leith where I will be staying (out in the Western Harbour Area).

Already got my eye on the Loch Fyne seafood restaurant a short walk from my future home but where else do you suggest is worth a visit? For the record I am amongst the least fussy eaters on the planet when it comes to variety.

Called in at Cafe Truva a few times, very enjoyable Turkish.

I used to have a flat in Newhaven. My local knowledge is not up to date, but I would reckon it's probably still worth avoiding the Vine Bar in North Junction Street, particularly after 6:00pm, unless you like fizzy tasteless tartan special and an atmosphere of impending mindless violence. If you like fizzy tasteless lager and actual mindless violence the Central Bar at the foot of the Walk used to be worth a visit. (It's actually worth a visit for the spectacular tiled interior, I hope they are still there).

Nobles in Constitution Street. Beautiful interior, excellent food, good beer. And the Port o'Leith pub a couple of doors away is a simple but good pub with a huge range of spirits and a menu which seems to start and finish at nachos. The local poncey arty crowd tell me the Chop House is good. You can get kippers or Smokies for breakfast at the Ship on the Shore, and the Hideout is a good if pricey cafe. Gentrification alert!

Another lunch vote for Cafe Truva or if you prefer something more traditional Teuchters Landing. For evenings I can recommend the Mintleaf, who do some very tasty Indian & Thai food.

We stayed in the Premier Inn for a couple of nights and ate next door, it was fine, as opposed to fyne.

If you like seafood I recommend the 'The Ship on the shore' on the Shore. It might be a small trek from western harbour but it's not unreasonably far away and it's a lovely place.

We had lunch at Tom Kitchin's last year with a voucher which Mrs Celine had been given. I'm glad I wasn't paying.
Umpteen courses, all immaculately presented but so over salted I couldn't taste anything else. I spent the rest of the day drinking water.

How disappointing. If I ever win the lottery I will know to give The Kitchin a miss then.

Also on your map, the Royal Yacht Britannia is well worth a visit. They have a spectacular tea room on deck.
