I like Llandudno too and would happily live there. My mum was born on the Great Orme in a house called Pant y Ffrith and was brought up there. I have relatives there and my first job was in the town too so I always feel at home when I'm there which is usually on holiday or visiting for the day but if I had no ties then I'd like to live in Holland for the great cycling that I've heard about but not experienced yet, and the waterways although my little boat would probably be a bit lost amongst all the big Dutch barges.

No help to the thread at all

I'm happy living on the high street of a small market town in Devon. I can walk out of the front door and be in countryside in ten minutes. Exmoor is just over an hour away by bike, Dartmoor a couple of hours. The Blackdown Hills are adjacent and the coast seven miles away.
I was born in Middlesex (and can never return there, because it's disappeared). But I like London for the buzz and variety.

After living most of my life in Wolverhampton it was a relief to move down to Weymouth,we are very happy here but if we moved again I wouldn't mind going along the coast to Budliegh Salterton, or maybe Exmouth.

Currently in West Norfolk - which is good triking country but I can't cycle in an Easterly direction from here or my trike will go rusty. (As there is only the Wash to the East)
Soon moving to South Norfolk and looking forward to a new area to explore on the trike and being able to travel in any direction.
First choice of place to live would be Wensleydale or Swaledale.
Places I would hate to live .......near the A17 in Lincolnshire (drab and stinks of cabbages and sprouts)
Runcorn -3 what a dump! (Said the man living in King's Lynn!)
Stoke - high unemployment with an air of despondency to it.
Great Yarmouth - nothing great about it whatsoever - so maybe it should be renamed as Grating Yarmouth?
Blackpool - seedy.
Bere Island - While staying in Southern Ireland we followed the recommendation from a previous visitor who had written in the Visitor's book and extolled the virtues of this "lovely little island"
So we went across on Murphy's car ferry. We were then stranded in this God forsaken place for 2 hours, during which time I contemplated " making a swim for it back to the mainland. We were bored stiff and there was bugger all to do on the island to while away the time while waiting for the ferry to leave for civilisation. Needless to say, we also wrote in the visitor's book advising new comers to the property to ensure they visited Bere Island!

Living in Leicester I am about as far from the sea as you can get in Britain. So I would like to live near the sea, but with some good hill walking near by. A big part of my life is going to concerts and the theatre so I would need a major town or city within easy reach. Brighton or Edinburgh are possible, somewhere near Liverpool is likely but I think it has to be just north of Newcastle, which is a shock given that I was born in South Shields and thought I was always destined for the Cotswolds.

Cheshire is very nice but would love to live in the Cotswolds or Cornwall its just so much more chilled and like Cheshire has lovely scenery, towns and villages. I would hate to live in Manchester or Birmingham but cities generally make me feel unsafe and paranoid.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
The vicinity of Wells in Zummerzet. Beauty. Nice roads. Near the coast. Close enough to the SE if we need to get back pronto. Far enough from the SE for the house prices to make sense.
Not enough roads for the traffic would be my observation, and not close enough to the SE for a really pronto return - no sensible train service, and the drive requires a long dog-leg round or through Bristol, or a more direct but very busy diversion through Bath. And there's a load of flakiness in Glastonbury.

The longer I live where I do, tucked out in the Chilterns but within easy reach of London, the more I appreciate it. It's got most of the benefits of Kent, Surrey and Sussex in terms of countryside and decent transport links but without the downside of overcrowding and overdevelopment.

I grew up in Manchester and although I go occasionally and enjoy a visit, the crime and violence are ever present in many parts of the city and it puts me off ever returning. I've lived in Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire (okay town, but nice villages and countryside all around), and in Hampshire near Liphook (lovely). Prior to here I lived at the end of the Central Line in Ruislip for 9 years. That was great for access to the capital and the countryside and I enjoyed it, although it's way beyond my means for somewhere to settle.
Now in Hitchin in Hertfordshire which I love. There are amazing cycling roads everywhere, tiny villages with picturesque pubs, gently rolling hills which provide some interest and some views without the pain of real climbs. I'm half an hour from London on the train if I want a change. Like Ruislip it's beyond my means long term so I don't really know where I'll end up, but I'm happy to be here for now.

My dream would be somewhere on the Isle of Mull with a sea view, but reality is I like Northamptonshire but would rather be in a village but then no shops so that would mean having to either rely upon public transport or get the car out for the weekly shopping.
